He is Professor of Surgery at the University of Turin, Italy,  since 2009.

Since 2018 he is Director of the Turin Liver Transplant Center, the most active Italian Center, now approaching the goal of 4,000 procedures since its inception.

He has been collaborating now from 15 years with the fundamental biotechnology research group led by Prof. Giovanni Camussi in Turin. He has published several papers on the use of Human Liver Stem Cells and derived extracellular vesicles in various pre-clinical models. He is now planning clinical protocols including the use of stem cells and extracellular vesicles in the context of liver preservation and reconditioning before transplantation.
